What Did We do?

Home of the Declaration of Arbroath - a 700 year old letter asserting Scotland’s independence - Historic Environment Scotland needed to upgrade how they conveyed its story. HES came direct to Stuco to call upon our reliability and experience to get the project over the line in time for the anniversary celebrations.

Creating an Identity

We arrived into this project later in the timeline and worked at pace with HES curators to establish a graphic visual identity from scratch. This included type, colour, pattern and icons based on content, context and the letter itself.

Plugging the gaps

Essentially contracted as graphic designers, our background in broader exhibition design and project management allowed us to see gaps in the wider team’s communication.

We acted as a fresh pair of eyes questioning historic information shared and guiding the client on any inconsistencies.

Breadth of work

The breadth of our involvement was across the site from building fabric to informing digital engagement and even designing the arrows which rain down upon the display.

Clean and elegant, with large scale use of fantastic imagery we think we’ve created a fitting backdrop to this one off national jewel.

We found Stuco to be creative, efficient, patient, and open to discussion and development of ideas. They were alert and responsive at all times, maintaining an up-to-date schedule of all elements of the exhibition. We would certainly consider Stuco for similar projects in future.”
