This exhibition reveals how Scotland’s pioneering women have overcome physical and social barriers to spend time in the mountains — not only as climbers but as writers, artists and leaders.

What Did We do?

The graphic route for this project came after viewing the amazing collection with curator Paula Williams. The plethora of handwritten travel notebooks were an easy link into supporting visual devices such as sticky notes, dot grid paper, dog-eared corners and hand-bashed lines. Pulled together with an elegant serif typeface, we added a smattering of other climbing references around the gallery - the minimal use of rope, hand holds and peg display board helped tie into the dot grid backdrop. We also worked on a digital activity with Chris Third.
