When designs need to work across four continents and 2,000 people, there's no room for uncertainty. That's why Devro wanted a template that would ensure a consistent brand experience across all of their locations - reflecting their status as a world leader in collagen casing production. The company's new flagship factory in Nantong, China would be their global benchmark. Briefs don't get much bigger.
Our approach was to create three distinct but complementary zones, each reflecting the activities in that area: The first zone is progressive and scientific - clutter-free function for laboratory and manufacturing. The second is warm and human - timber and warm hues in the canteen and breakout areas: a clean, progressive look for public zones. The final zone is functional and practical - for offices and formal meeting spaces.
The design would be judged by how it blended these three zones into a uniquely Devro environment - sometimes independently, sometimes with all three working together. It was also about tackling the practicalities, so we created detailed specification sheets for each zone. It's the only way to make sure the transformation would work every time, everywhere.
